Iset up my own firm in 1993 having retired as a
Partner from Dorman Jeffrey & Co in December 1992. Earlier I had
been a Partner and the Managing Partner of Bishop & Co - now Bishops My specialisation has always been in company and commercial law notably in mergers and acquisitions . As an Insolvency Practitioner, I was involved in many disposal and recovery transactions. I have substantial experience in joint venture vehicles. The downsizing to a sole practitioner firm specialising almost exclusively in corporate law remains unusual - the corporate area normally being the province of only the largest of the legal firms. The advantages to my clients, however, are significant - specifically, personal attention and economic fees. With over 25 years of corporate law experience
in Scotland I have an established client base. I act as a "consultant"
for other legal firms who have no corporate partner. I am
often asked to take on work from larger firms where a conflict of
interest has arisen A significant amount of my work has been in the
Technology field. I was a founding owner and Director of Telecom
Service Centres
Limited a pioneer in clerical outsourcing mainly for banks and
the utilities. I am
also a Partner in Abercrombie Capital Partners LLP with Alan Stewart
and Neil Cunningham, both formerly corporate law partners in
significant legal firms in Scotland. Abercrombie specialises in finding
buyers for clients wishing to sell their companies.
